WHAT TO EXPECT
INITIAL PHONE CONSULTATION
The first step is for us to set up a brief, complimentary phone call to determine whether I may be the right person to support you.
In our first few meetings, we'll continue to assess together whether I can best meet your needs. I'll work to learn more about you and your goals for therapy and we will collaborate to develop a plan for our work together.
DURATION OF SESSIONS
Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. In some cases, it may be appropriate to schedule 80-minute sessions, depending on need and preferences. Please inquire if interested.
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY TAKE?
I know that therapy can be a considerable investment in time, effort and money for your mental health and wellbeing. My goal in working with people is that they develop coping skills and self-understanding so that therapy is no longer needed. I encourage people to consider psychotherapy as a short-term investment that will result in long-term benefits. The typical course of therapy is 12-20 weeks, and those who are receptive, proactive, and willing to engage in learning between sessions tend to progress more quickly. Following an initial assessment period, I can provide you with an estimate of how long therapy may be for you. Having a timeframe in mind can help us stay focused and on task together. If you’re looking for a time-limited, solutions-focused approach, I'd be happy to work with you in that way. I also understand that some people need or desire longer term therapy, and I am also able to provide those services, when indicated.
